Parent Partnership

Jumping Beans aims to work in partnership with parents/ carers to settle your child into our group environment. To ensure they feel safe, secure and comfortable with staff and their surroundings. A key person will be allocated to each child and the family prior to the child starting Pre School (or after a period of a child settling in, depending on what meets the needs of the individual child.) 

Information will be provided through a variety of media, including: parent noticeboard, policy and procedures, parent consultations meetings, Jumping Beans Facebook page and Tapestry  ( our online learning journal, where we record, track and celebrate your child's progress, you can update us on what you do at home,and see our daily/ weekly diary's)

Learning and Development

The Early Years Foundation Stage (E.Y.F.S.) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to five years old. Children are developing all the time and their learning reflects this. The E.Y.F.S. is split in to 7 areas of learning

Prime areas;

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
Specific areas;
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the world

  • Expressive arts and design

In addition the E.Y.F.S. refers to the different ways that children learn as the Characteristics of Effective Learning; 

  • Playing and exploring
  • Active learning

  • Creating and thinking critically 

Together with the Prime and Specific areas these comprise the knowledge, skills and experiences that are developmentally appropriate for children from birth to five years. underpinning all areas are the E.Y.F.S principles
